180 degree angle

180 degree angle

The 180 degree angle rule is a filming technique used in many films. The 180 degree angle rule consists of a imagery line called the axis, that goes through both characters. The axis connects the characters. The line represents that the camera should not pass over the line whilst filming, but however should maintain on the same side, as shown in the photo above. If the camera passes the line , this is called crossing the line, and the shot then becomes a reverse angle.

By learning this technique it will help me for our preliminary task and our final 2 minute opening scene.

Here is  my version of the 180 degree angle rule:

film poster deconstruction

By doing this poster deconstruction i have learnt, different ways to present characters through the use of mise-en-scene, and that every part of the poster is important.By looking at the poster i have learnt that it is important to pay attention to detail.

what is shot/reverse shot

What is shot/reverse shot?
Image result for reverse shot over the shoulder

A shot reverse shot is a key technique used in many films. Shot reverse shot is where one character is shown looking at another character ,and then another character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are both looking at each other, having a conversation. The cameras are normally positioned behind the shoulder of both characters, therefore if a character was speaking the camera would be over their shoulder, so you could see the other characters reaction.

However you can also have the cameras positioned in a wide or medium shot too.By doing this editing technique it allows the viewers to get a sense of their surrounding , to allow them to have a greater understanding of their location, for example if you saw Big Ben you would know that the film was based in London.

However the music video was hated by the critics due to the wide age gap between the two dancers, and due to the fact that both dancers are wearing minimum clothing. However this being said it is still an amazing video.

Introduction post:

Hello ,I'm Amy and welcome to my media studies blog. Throughout my blog I will be putting up my media studies course work , this will consist of creating, editing and reviewing different films.

Media is used in everyday life, it surrounds us in many ways, such as reading a magazine to watching a YouTube clip on your phone. Media is a huge influence in today's society, and will continue to be for many years.

Many companies use the power of media to publish there views and opinions, as it is worldwide and can be trending within minutes.

I chose to do media studies as I find the whole aspect of it very interesting, and I think I could learn new and wonderful things from the course.
